The guinea pig tenant sent a text yesterday, “Quick question…didn’t you ask, and we pay last months rent when we moved over to the new side?”. He was sorely mistaken. My response was, “No, you got a free month of rent when you moved over to the new side.”. In California, if a landlord asks a tenant to move for a “no-fault” situation, the tenant is entitled to a payment equal to a month’s rent which is what they got.
