I emailed the surveyor yesterday morning for a new update. No response.

I don’t think I mentioned it before but we have a section 8 tenant at our primary property. I have decided that I will never rent to another government assisted tenant again. The tenant quality could be better. She came home drunk once and forgot the gate code, decided the world was against her (we have her talking to herself on a security video), walked off in a huff and hit our front yard fence four times in frustration. There was no damage but irritating nonetheless. Another example is she lost her job and was trying to get her new rent contribution squared-away with the section 8 agency. That was taking longer than she had anticipated so she didn’t pay any rent at all. She was blaming it on the agency taking so long. In actuality, she was responsible for her portion of the rent regardless of her employment status. She’s an excuse generator. All that aside, the most annoying part of renting to a section 8 tenant is the government agency itself. Getting a response from anyone is an agonizing waiting game. We recently (over sixty days ago) gave notice to then tenant and the agency of a rental increase as we are required to do. Fast-forward sixty days and we haven’t heard peep from the agency. I send three emails to my case worker with his boss CCd. No response. I sent an email to the ombudsman who, at this place, is a “complaint department”. She responded very quickly and is a wonderful person. Shantille is her name and I love her. She asked the person doing the rental increase approval to contact me. He did and started whining about his workload, so I let him have it. I told him I didn’t care about his workload. I care about the lost rent because you guys can’t do your job. Yada, yada, yada…the rental increase has been approved and the balance has been deposited into our account.
