The concrete has been poured! I did not get a chance to visit the site to get pictures of the rebar job. It is fun and educational to watch something being built from the ground up. I used to work for my Dad around twenty-four years ago. I did not have the interest in the process back then. It wasn’t what I wanted to do. I did learn invaluable skills, though. which have since been put to use. Framing is next and the contractor says that things are going to speed up. One framing begins, it’s going to take around ten days to complete. There has been a wrench thrown into the works, though. Pas, the plumber, is going to be out for a couple of months starting May 5. I don’t want my Dad to do this work alone. I am going to have to ask the “original” plumber if he can step in.
We are still trying to find a tenant for the freshly vacated unit. It needs painting. I hate having vacancies. There is some good news, though. The tenant whose lease was expiring at the end of May decided to sign a new one-year lease for an increase of $150 to $2350. This is the same amount as the other one-bedroom on our property.
The triplex that we’re house hacking is being appraised on Thursday. I’m pretty excited about that. Prices have increased in the area where we live and I’m curious what the current value is.
